By the time that Janet disappeared in September, 1982, Joseph DeAngelo had already committed dozens of home invasion/kidnapping attacks on girls, women, and couples across northern CA, shot the Maggiores to death in Rancho Cordova, Claude Snelling in Visalia, and then driven back and forth to southern CA killing nine more people—the most recent being in Irvine in February of 1981. Janet’s case fit the well known EAR and Original Night Stalker MOs and victimology, and the cases were front page news. 

How did Auburn PD and PCSO fail to investigate a possible connection?
